Port Huron’s Harbormaster
Views from the Waterfront with Mike Davenport
Mike Davenport
Mike knows the Port Huron waterfront better than anyone in town.
Mike has been a member of the team at Desmond Marine in downtown Port Huron since 2002, and he has served as the harbormaster for the City of Port Huron since 2008.
Splitting his time between the two entities has grown the relationship between Desmond Marine and the overall Great Lakes boating community. Mike also retains an active Master’s 100 Ton Captain’s License.

“What I love most about living in Port Huron is the wide variety of activities it offers that interest me. Whether it be golfing, boating, or fishing in the summer months, or catching a hockey game in the winter months, there’s always something to do with friends and family.”

“Something I would recommend for a first time visitor to Port Huron is do whatever it takes to get on the water and see Port Huron from a different view. Cruise the Black River, take a stroll up the canal, and float around on beautiful Lake Huron. If you’re having trouble finding a boat ride just call or text me, ha ha!”

“My favorite time to be in Port Huron is honestly the fall months. Don’t get me wrong - I love summer here - but from September to December it just seems to slow down a little bit and I can enjoy a bike ride or boat ride with my wife along the coast with the beautiful fall colors in the background. I’ve always said that fall is the best time to go for a boat ride and see all the colors along the Lake Huron shore and way up the Black River.”
